Technical means playing a high difficulty map with Rhythm League approved music to your greatest accuracy potential. Unlike some other events, Technical is played in first-person with Beat Saber and Boom Box only.

Supported Games

We only accept submissions in Beat Saber and Boom Box, which compete in separate tracks, in order to create an even competitive playing field and a fair scoring system. In the future, we hope to offer Technical events for other games.

Event Rules

  • Applications are not final submissions. If selected as one of the of five (5) finalists, competitors will have the opportunity to further hone and maximize their performances during the final application period.

  • Applicants must submit through the application page and accept the terms and conditions.

  • Maps must use approved music.

    • Reworking a pre-existing map with approved music is allowed and encouraged.

      • All mappers must be credited on the audition form. If reworking a map, the original mapper(s) must be credited.

  • There are no time limits for application. Please note only “highlights” of technical submission finalists will be aired during the Season 0 live show due to time constraints.

  • Standard game accuracy rules are 50% of score - performances must have at least an SS/90%+ accuracy score to submit. A perfect score of 100% is a 10, with a 5 based on the average accuracy of submissions.

  • The difficulty of the map is 50% of score - a pool of judges will play all submissions, and the judge’s accuracy scores for each map will be averaged to determine a difficulty metric to contrast submissions. The most difficult song will receive a 10, with a 5 based on the average difficulty of submissions.

  • Based on these scoring metrics, it is possible to win with a more difficult map/lower accuracy score, if the map’s difficulty rating is substantively higher than their competitor’s.

You’ll receive 1-10 points in each category, with 5 being “typical among other entries in this event.” That score is then multiplied by a percentage weight. The best possible score is 100%. For more details on ranked-choice scoring, please review the FAQ.

The scoring system is subject to change.
